Are you afraid of the resistance heating?

Hardware design
dezembro 14, 2020 by Carl 593

I made a few 5730LED lighting, the LED voltage is 3V-3.6V / 150MA, my power supply voltage is 5V,

So I got a 12R/1W resistor, and later found it was too hot, so I replaced it with 20R/1W, which was still very hot, about 40 degrees.

If it takes a long time, is it safe?

Calculated by power, it must be enough, and 40 degrees is okay.

If it is made into a board, I plan to use a 1/2W 1812 resistor, or a 1/3W 1210 resistor, which is considered acceptable, but now I test it, even 1W is so hot, I don’t know if the patch is not good.

You might as well put a few diodes in series or use Zener diodes for transition.

It is better to use two 12 ohms in series, or two resistors in parallel, so that the heat can be shared between the two resistors, and the temperature will be lower. The above is just a personal suggestion! I don't know if it is suitable
